Whole maize is a natural, unprocessed product from the south west of France where the warmer climate is ideal for maize growing. Cleaned before packing to ensure minimal dust and admixture, maize provides the highest energy of most cereals. The starch and sugar content is slower to release in the whole product so offers the fish a sustained period of energy once consumed. This is a good cheaper and visual substitute to pellet only diets being fed on fisheries and fish farms especially through the colder months.

Preparation is:

Soak your maize for 24-36 hours in lake or tap water (flavour/sweetener is optional). Maize doesn’t absorb a huge amount of water whilst it is soaking so you need only cover the grains with a couple of centimetres of water. After the soaking process is complete transfer the grains and the water in which they have been soaking to a suitably large pan, then boil them for half an hour. After boiling, return the grains and the same water to a bucket with a tight fitting lid and leave them to cool and continue to soak. Bagged in 25kg bags
